Step 1 — Get a License

MWNote requires a valid license key to run — there is no trial mode without one.
You can choose:

  • Full license – no expiration.

Get your license and keep your license key ready for setup.

  2. Unzip the file to get MWNote.exe.
  3. Place it in a convenient location (e.g., Desktop).
Windows 11 Tip
  • Right click on executable and select Pin to start to get MWNote added to the Pinned segment on start pane.
  • With MWNote running, right click on the application in the taskbar and select Pin to taskbar to get MWNote added to the taskbar at all times.

Step 3 — First Launch & Setup

When you open MWNote for the first time, the Settings dialog appears:

  1. MWNote folder– choose where all notes will be saved.
  2. Cleaner – set how long notes remain Active before moving to Inactive, and how long they stay Inactive before deletion.
  3. License key – paste your trial or full license from Step 1, then click Activate.
  4. Click Save to begin using MWNote.

Step 4 — Create Your First Note

  • New note: CTRL+N
  • Save: CTRL+S
  • Search instantly: CTRL+E (Periscope search)

Step 5 — Next Steps

  • Learn Shortcuts to work entirely from the keyboard.
  • Read about the Cleaner to understand how MWNote manages note clutter.

Tips for Success

Keep it simple - The goal is to reduce cognitive load and let you focus on your thoughts.

  • Trust the system - Let MWNote automatically organize old notes, resist the urge to over-organize manually.
  • Make Periscope your best friend - CTRL+E should become second nature.
  • Archive selectively - Only save truly important long-term notes.
